Obituary for Levi Olden Canning

Levi Olden  Canning
It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Levi Olden Canning announces his passing. Levi passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord from the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte, NL on Wednesday, December 12th, 2018 at the age of 80 years.

Levi is predeceased by his parents – Samuel and Mary Canning; parents-in-law – Solomon and Elsie Bussey; siblings-in-law – Alvin Sacrey, Douglas Bussey, Reginald Bussey and Marion Bussey; nephews – Darren Canning and Floyd Bussey.

Left with fond and loving memories are his wife of 57 years, Greta Canning, Woodstock, NL; children – Marion Canning, Rockwood, ON, Lorna Saunders (Carl), Woodstock, NL, Vincent Canning, Ottawa, ON, Jack Canning, Halifax, NS and Karen Reber (Randy), Maryland, USA; grandchildren – Kevin, Paula (Donnie), Michelle (Mark), Jackie (Dennis), Christopher, Marie and Brianna; great-grandson – Erik; step-great-grandchildren – Ryan, Dillan and Josh; siblings – Andrew Canning (Yvonne), Major Baxter Canning (Juanita), Wilbert Canning (Daisy), Elmo Canning (Joy), Wilfred Canning (Joyce), Monston Canning (Betty), Gladys Decker (Howard), Darrell Canning (Cindy), Lester Canning (Vicky), Ena Young (Ross) and Harold Canning; siblings-in-law – Albert Bussey (Judy), Harold Bussey (Melvina), Jack Bussey (Sheila), Valance Bussey (Yvonne), Major Lester Bussey (Bonnie), Nelson Bussey (Diane), Hazel Gee (Pastor Leroy), Vincent Bussey and Marion Bussey; special friend – Pastor Leonard Munn as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A special thank you is extended to the doctors, nurses and staff of Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre. Also, thank you to all those who have called and provided food in the last few days.

Majors George and Karen Crocker, assisted by Major Lester Bussey conducted the Funeral Service from The Salvation Army Citadel, Woodstock, NL, on Sunday, December 16th, 2018 at 1:00PM. Interment followed from The Salvation Army Cemetery, Woodstock, NL.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted, or donations may be made in Levi’s memory to The Salvation Army Building Fund, Woodstock, NL.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Foster Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL.
